Bible Truths

Question: Is Jesus the only way to God the Father?

Answer: Yes (John 14:6).

Question: Do angels have wings and halos?

Answer: No. Every angel mentioned in the Bible is described as being in the appearance of a man (Genesis Chapter 18, Judges Chapter 13, Daniel 8:15-16, Judges 13:6,Daniel 10:16-18).

Question: Is Satan an angel?

Answer: No. He masquerade's as an angel of light, 2 Corinthians 11:14, but he is not an angel (Ezekiel 28:11-19).

Question: How many angels are mentioned by name in the Bible?

Answer: There are three. They are: Gabriel (Luke 1:19), Michael  (Revelation 12:7)and Abadon  (Revelation 9:11).

Question: Who was the oldest person to live in the Bible?

Answer: Methuselah lived 969 years (Genesis 5:27).

Question: Did only two of every kind of animal go into the ark with Noah when the flood came?

Answer:  No. In verse Genesis 6:20, God did send two of every kind of animal to Noah to be kept alive, but in Genesis  7:2, the Lord told Noah to also 2 Take with you seven of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate, and two of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate, 3 and also seven of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive throughout the earth. The second set of animals were more than likely used for burnt offerings to the Lord like Noah did in Genesis 8:20.

Question:  Did Jesus have brothers and sisters?

Answer: Yes. Scripture only mentions His brothers by name and not His sisters. Their names were: James, Joseph, Judas and Simon (Mark 6:3).

Question:  Did three Magi visit Jesus when He was born?

Answer: No. Scripture mentions that the Magi brought Jesus gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh. (Matthew 2:11), but clearly does not state a number that visited Him.

Question:  Did Jonah get swallowed by a whale?

Answer: No. Scripture says that Jonah was swallowed by a great fish. (Jonah 1:17).

Question:  Was Satan's name ever Lucifer?

Answer: No. Only in the King James version (Isaiah 14:12)  is Satan referred to as Lucifer (and this is only mentioned once). No other Bible mentions him as Lucifer. Please remember that Lucifer is a Latin name and the Roman language did not exist when the original Hebrew manuscript of the Old Testament was written. This may have been caused by a misinterpretation of translation from one language to another.

Question:  Did Moses stutter?

Answer: No. This misconception comes from the way people try to interpret Exodus 4:10 when Moses tells that God that he has "never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue." This word eloquent means expressing yourself clearly, and effectively. Since the Pharaoh was quick witted with a sharp tongue, Moses felt he would probably be no match for Pharaoh in an educated discussion. We also learn in from  in Acts 7:22 from Stephen's Speech to the Sanhedrin that Moses was "educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and was powerful in speech and action."

Question:  Is the Bible written and inspired by men?

Answer: No. The Bible teaches us in 2 Peter 1:21 that "For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit." Also, in 2Tim3:16 we learn that "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,".

Question:  How can I be saved?

Answer: There is only one way to be saved and that is through believing that  Jesus Christ is the Son of the Most High God. We learn that in Romans 10:9 "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

Question: Who are the twelve apostles?

Answer: Matthew 10:2-4 tells us that: "2These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (who is called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John; 3Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; 4Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him."

Question:  Was Satan the father of Cain?

Answer: No. The Bible clearly states in Genesis 4:1 that "1 Adam lay with his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain.  She said, "With the help of the LORD I have brought forth a man."

Question: Did Adam have a wife named Lilith before he married Eve?

Answer: No. No where in the Bible is anyone with the name of Lilith ever mentioned. Lilith appears as a night demon in Jewish lore and as a screech owl in the King James version of the Bible, but the name is never mentioned nor associated with Adam in the Bible.
